Ancilia Chain
The Ancilia Chain is based on a style excavated at Pompeii and found across the Roman Empire.
The shape of its figure-of-eight links recall the ancilia, the twelve sacred shields carried in Roman ritual procession. The ancilia symbolized protection, and this style of chain was often found with a simple lunula pendant, itself a strong symbol of protection in Roman times.
Made from hand-drawn wire in solid 20k gold, each link is individually formed and joined by hand. The chain closes with a handcrafted toggle clasp.
22 and 18 inches (lariat) or 7 inches (bracelet). Custom lengths available upon request.
Made to order with a 4–6 week lead time.
