Loop-in-loop chains are the oldest chains ever found. Examples appear in Mesopotamia more than four thousand years ago and continue through the Greek, Roman, and Byzantine eras. 

Chains inherently represent the concept of infinity. Each link of gold twists into the next, and the end meets the beginning in a circle of endless repetition. 

The Apeiron Chain—named after the word for infinity in Ancient Greek—has a double figure-of-eight construction. Its strength relies on interlocking links rather than solder.
